Only communication/educational flu apps eligible?
Based on the criteria, it appears that only apps relating to communicating and educating about flu are eligible, correct?
A software app that helps organizations quickly vaccinate thousands of people for flu or other vaccine-preventable illnesses (as described in NIC presentation recorded at http://cdc.confex.com/cdc/nic2011/webprogram/Paper25231.html ) would not be eligible as I read the judging criteria.

Good afternoon fandango,
The primary purpose of the application does not have to be health communication or education. A game, for example, may incorporate health messages, but such communication wouldn't be the promary goal of the application. The messages would have to be properly incorporated into the game.
An application such as you described if incorporating the data or health content from the prescribed data sources and the syndication API could meet the criteria.
Thanks and good luck.

Unfortunately this responset doesn't really answer my question.
We're working on a software application that facilitates being able to vaccinate thousands of people for flu (or other illness) at a mass clinic by letting them register in advance through an online web registration system (ensuring they are eligible and have vaccine reserved for them, and can choose the time they are vaccinated, so they have little or no waiting time.
The concept is similar to how people buy movie tickets online through the Fandango website so they don't have to wait in line and are sure they will get to see the movie they want, at the time they want it.
We used an earler version of it for all our mass H1N1 clinics in 2009-2010, a recent mass clinic for a meningococal outbreak, and we are rewriting it as an open source application for other public health agencies to use at no cost.
We believe this is a tremendously useful "Flu APP" but does not appear to qualify for this particular challenge. (Doesn't use CDC flu data, for example)
@#$% that correct?

IS THIS CORRECT?

Good morning fandango,
Any application entered in the contest must incorporate one of the required data sets. An existing application may be enhanced to use these new data or flu content. Without incorporating the CDC content, it would not unfortunately qualify.
Thanks
